Description of the project:
One of the passions that further unites the family, the beautiful bride Vessy and the charming groom Nasko, discover in the face of one of the most beloved British series of all time, Doctor Who.
Inspired by the Doctor’s adventures from the 1960s to present day, they decide to include fantasy characters, time travel, playful humor, scientific theories, intellectual mysteries and philosophical wisdom from the series in their wedding design concept to challenge more than 60 relatives and friends to watch at least part of the 12 seasons released after 2000.
Davangarte watched over 190 episodes of the famous series taking at heart the challenge to recreate part of it for their special celebration.
Together with the newlyweds, we further developed the ideas for integrating the TARDIS, including quotes and images of their favorite characters, complementing the obligatory wedding texts such as day, date, time, place and hourly agenda of the event.
To develop the overall concept, I specially created a personalised logo containing the names of the bride and the groom and a minimalist road map with GPS coordinates and key directions for easy finding of the wedding venue.
Minimalist, modern and slightly romantic illustrations of the unique characters, various elements, hidden messages in Gallifreyan (the Doctor’s native language), as well as an original technique for “closing” the wedding invitation and “opening” it by pulling one end of the ribbon (using only 2 fingers) complement the design concept.
The characters’ spirit was embodied in all design materials through moderate jokes and smart riddles mixed with modernism, youthful freshness, tenderness and style.
The wedding invitation body is printed on solid, textured, dark blue cardboard (Keaykolor Original Royal Blue 250 g) with gold-foil ornaments, an exquisite golden-cream satin ribbon & a golden key. Elegant prints in beige & gray on Olin Rough Cream 120 g paper are used for its interior.
All guests, despite of their different nationalities, were impressed by the wedding invitation & design concept, and I still receive compliments by new and former clients.
